James J. Belcher

On Wednesday, April 14, 2010, a dear and loving husband, brother and friend, James J. Belcher, 79 of Verner, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, from Logan Regional Medical Center.
Born at Guyan on May 10, 1930, he was the son of the late Record and Lenora Morgan Belcher.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his two sisters: Maxine Hutchinson and Kathleen Saville.
James was a 1949 graduate of Baileysville High School, a retired coal miner, a veteran of the US Air Force, and a member of the Christian Freewill Baptist Church. He loved spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to love and cherish his memory include his loving wife of 55 years, Alma Lester Belcher of Verner; his brother, Leaburn Belcher of Pineville; his five brothers-in-law: Beauford (Mary) Lester of Oceana, Gerald (Liz) Lester of Coal Mountain, Blaine (Sue) Lester of Chapmanville, Frank (Dottie) Lester of Verner, and Beul (Helen) Lester of Verner; his four sisters-in-law: Grethel Walls of Gilbert, Ethel (Cecil) Bobbitt of Christian, Margaret (Freddie) Hatfield of Verner, and Bethel Morgan of Clear Fork; his very very special friends; and a host of other dear family and friends.
Friends may gather with the family at the Christian Freewill Baptist Church at Christian on Saturday, April 17th after 6:00 pm. A service will be held at 7:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, April 18th at the Christian Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Johnson, Rev. Roger Browning, and Rev. Jackie Grimmett officiating.
Military rites will be performed by the Disabled American Veterans Chapter # 141 of Belfry Kentucky.
Burial will follow in the Skyline Cemetery at Justice.
He will be carried to his final resting place by his family and friends.
