On Saturday, April 24, 2010, a sweet and loving mother, Alice Demona West Morgan Davis, 76 of Brenton, departed this life at her residence.
Born at Big Branch on November 5, 1933, she was the daughter of the late, John D. and Gracie Virginia Hatfield West.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sons: Stanley and Jerry Morgan; one daughter, Peggy Morgan; one grandson, Dominic Castaneda; one granddaughter, Tara Morgan; one sister, Lillian West; and three brothers: Nathan, Roy, and Eddie West.
Alice Demona was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a homemaker and loved to watch wrestling. She was known to all as “grandma”. She opened her heart and her home to young and old alike, and was thought of as the “oldest teenager”. She loved life and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to love and cherish her memory and to carry on her legacy include her three sons: Teddy (Rachel) Morgan of Hanover, Billy (Phyllis) Morgan of Primer, and Paul Morgan of Brenton; her daughter, Verla “Penny” Castaneda of Sunset Beach, California; her nine wonderful grandchildren; her eight precious great grandchildren; her four sisters: Mavis Morgan of Thomasville, North Carolina, Delois Stafford of Hanover, Barbara “Addie” (Archie) Lester of Jacksonville, North Carolina, and Virginia Mae (John) Lukens of Cincinnati, Ohio; her three brothers: Charles (Connie) West of Oceana, Jimmy (Vella) West of Ohio, and Tony West of Rockhouse; and a host of other dear family and friends.
Friends may gather with the family at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Tuesday, April 27th from 6 to 9 pm, with a church service at 7:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, April 28th at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Browning and Rev. Brad Rose officiating.
Burial will follow in the West Morgan Cemetery at Long Branch of Simon.
She will be carried to her final resting place by family and friends.
