Austin Howard Murphy 52 of Wharncliffe, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to join his loved ones waiting for him in heaven, on Friday, December 18, 2009, from Saint Francis Hospital in Charleston.
Born at Flint Michigan on March 13, 1957, he was the son of the late William and Neltha Smith Murphy.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Angel Irene Murphy and one brother, William Gary Murphy.
Austin was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, and friend. He loved to fish, sing in church, being an athletic trainer for Gilbert, being outdoors, but his favorite thing was being with his grandchildren. He was a born again Christian who attended the Grace Independent Baptist Church and the Promise Christian Fellowship. He was a member of the Hugh C Boyd Lodge # 119 and the Calista Boyd Chapter # 104 OES both of Red Jacket. He was a disabled coal miner, a firefighter, an EMT for the Stafford EMS.
Those left to love and cherish his memory are: his loving wife of 26 years, Alice (Berry) Murphy of Wharncliffe; his daughter, Candaice (Slade) Sowers of Chapmanville; his two sons: Austin Jeremy (Courtney) Murphy of Gilbert and Anthony Kyle Murphy of Morgantown; his four very special grandchildren: Carley Ne’Coal Toler, Morgan Wesley Sowers, Isabella Marie Sowers, and Gwendolyn Elizabeth Sowers; his brother, Chet (Sarah) Murphy; his three sisters: Phyllis (Elmer) Darnell of Flint Michigan, Brenda Murphy of West Branch Michigan, and Barbara Short of Tucson Arizona; a special sister-in-law, Janet (Dwain) Gibson; his father and mother-in-law, Shorty and Mary Berry; and a host of special nieces, nephews, other dear family members and friends.
Friends may gather with the family at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Saturday, December 26th from 6 to 9 pm. An OES funeral services will be held at 7 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, December 27th at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dwayne Cline, Rev. Beverly Birchfield, Rev. Roy Lee Lester, Rev. Denny May, and Rev. Danny Ward officiating.
Burial will follow in the Murphy Family Cemetery at Wharncliffe. Masonic rites will be held at the grave side.
He will be carried to his final resting place by C E Scott, Casey & Stacy Huff, Joey Wolford, Chad Roberts, Link Roberson, Slade Sowers, Jeremy & Anthony Murphy, Dwayne Gibson, and Danny & Leslie Hobbs.
