Barbara Walker

A sweet and loving wife and mother, Barbara Walker 68 of Hanover, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to join her loved ones waiting for her in heaven, on Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Logan Regional Medical Center.

Born on July 22, 1941 at Welch, she was the daughter of the late Virgil Dee and Flossie Mae Browning Lester.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: one daughter, Robin Browning; one granddaughter, Sabrina Cline; one grandson, Cody Ryan Walker; one sister, Helen Blankenship; and three brothers:  Edward, Roy Dee, and Robert Ray Lester.

Barbara was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  She loved to work crossword puzzles, go on picnics, and spending time with her wonderful family and friends.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Long Branch Freewill Baptist Church.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to love and cherish her memory and to carry on her legacy include her loving husband of 46 years, Johnny D. Walker of Hanover; her three daughters:  Rhonda (Larry) Hatfield of Coal Mountain, Kim (Larry) Dillon and Vanessa Walker both of Hanover; her five sons:  Jonathan Walker, Mickey Walker, Rickey (Jeanatta) Walker, and Bradley (Tina) Walker all of Hanover, and David (Deloris) Walker of Joe Point; her twelve wonderful grandchildren:  Misty, Ginger (Kevin), Tabitha, Chasity (Jason), Amy, ChyAnn, Allen, Justin, Joshua, Latosha, Nichlos, and Brianna; her six precious great grandchildren:  Hannah, Hunter, Jadan, Ethan, Kaitlyn, and Alyssa; her brother, Clarence (Sue Ann) Lester of  Hanover; her sister, Norma (Frank) Simmons of Palestine; her son-in-law, Neal Browning of Coal Mountain; her sister-in-law, Kathy Bryant; her brother-in-law, Vennie Blankenship; her special cousins:  Glenna Sue Dunigan, Linda Lou Cook, and Ruth Riffe; her special niece, Belinda Kennedy; her very best friend, Geraline “Jerry” McKee; and a host of other dear family and friends. 

We wish to offer a special thank you to our aunt Norma for always being there.

Friends may gather with the family at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Sunday, March 21st from 6 to 9 pm.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, March 22nd at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Hunt and Rev. Lonnie Blankenship officiating.

Burial will follow in the Walker Family Cemetery at Hanover.

She will be carried to her final resting place by:  Allen, Justin, and Joshua Walker, Nichlos Webb, Poochie Perry, Bobby Morgan, and Kevin and Mark Cline.
