Bertha Mae Lester

A sweet and loving child of God, Bertha Mae Lester, 79 of Baisden, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to join her loved ones waiting for her in heaven on Sunday, June 6th, 2010, from her residence.

Born at Wharncliffe on November 3, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Ance Trent and Pearl Johnson Lester.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lawrence Lester; one son, Timmy Lester; one granddaughter, Tabitha; and three great grandchildren.

Bertha was a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great and great great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Full Gospel Church of God.  She was a kind and loving person, who loved serving the Lord.  She loved spending time with her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to love and cherish her memory and to carry on her legacy include her children:  Edith (late, Parker) Lester, Geneva Hatfield, Janet (Jennings) Galyean, Zelphia Lester, Keith (Tammy) Lester, and Conrad (Crystal) Lester, all of Baisden, Doug (Donna) Lester of Oceana, and Jamey (Amanda) Lester of Sprattsville; her four sisters:  Nadine (Charles) Mangus, Dorothy Mangus, Phoebe (Doug) Spence, and Pearl Thomas; her six brothers:  Madison (Freda) Trent, Thomas Ray (Alma) Trent, Nathaniel Trent, Ralph (Linda) Lester, Kenneth Glen (Jennifer) Lester, and Denny Clark; her special friend, Lennie Ritchie of Baisden; her friend, David Baisden of Delbarton; her 23 grandchildren; her 17 great grandchildren; her great great grandchild; and a host of other dear family and friends.

Friends may gather with the family to celebrate Bertha’s life at the Full Gospel Church of God at Baisden, on Tuesday, June 8th from 6 to 11 pm with a service at 7 pm.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 9th at the Full Gospel Church of God with the Rev. Dale Collins, Rev. Jonas Trent, and Rev. Learmon Mounts officiating.

Burial will follow in the Lester Family Cemetery at Baisden.

Bertha will be carried to her final resting place by:  Billy Ellis, Roy “Bush” Jude, Jordan Cline, Elliot Cline, Seth Lester, Robert Ellis, and Brandon Sammons.

Honorary pallbearers are:  Judd Cline, Curtis Balnkenship, Burley Morgan, Crockett West, John Mounts, and Scotty Sammons.
