Dallas Dwight Walls, 80 of Gilbert, departed this life on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at Logan Regional Medical Center.
Born at Leatherwood section of Verner, on June 22, 1930, he was the son of the late Albert and Lula Walls.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Mona Walls; his first wife, Dottie Walls; one son, Davy Walls; six brothers: Clayton, Clinton, Harlen, Travis, Arden, and Thomas Walls; two sisters: Georgie Miller and Unice Walker; one grandson, Marty Kennedy; and one granddaughter, Deanna Kennedy.
Dallas was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, step-father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a retired coal miner and of the protestant faith. He loved spending time with his wonderful family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to love and cherish his memory and to carry on his legacy include his loving wife, Virginia Grimmett Walls; of Gilbert; his five sons: Curtis (Clarice) Walls, Rocky Walls, and Vencil (Crystal) Walls all of Simon, and Jammie (Dolly) Walls and Stephen (Lisa) Walls both of Oceana; his two daughters: Rita (Virgil) Kennedy and Sandra (Jerome) Brown both of Simon; his two step-sons: James (Cheryl) May and Roger (Shelby) Blankenship both of Gilbert; his three step-daughters: Angela (Jr.) Chaffins of Matewan, Norma (Jeff) Ogle of Gilbert, and Cindy (Tim) Kenneda of Copperstone; a special granddaughter, Cassandra Blankenship of the home; his brother, Rodney (Kim) Walls of Hanover; his three sisters: Zola (Doug) New of Coal Mountain, Gertrude Cline of Hanover, and Mavis Walls of New York; his three half-brothers: Mayford (Ella Mae) Walls of Gilbert, and Dwayne (Drema) Walls and Jarvis (Jennifer) Walls both of North Springs; his three half-sisters: Charlotte Maynor of Coal Mountain, Maecene (Jeff) Toler of Maben, and Clara (Homer) Cline of Simon; his 33 wonderful grandchildren; his 53 precious great grandchildren; and a host of other dear family and friends.
Friends may gather with the family, to celebrate Dallas’ life, on Friday, July 2nd from 6 to 10 pm at the Upper Room Jesus Name Church at Simon.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 3rd, at the Upper Room Jesus Name Church with the Rev. Alvin Browning and Rev. Andrew Thompson officiating.
His final resting place will be in the Kennedy Cemetery at Simon.
He will be carried to his final resting place by: Jeffery Ogle, Jerome Brown, Kendell, Jonathan, and Steven Walls, and Jody, Jeremy and Shawn Kennedy.
