Gary Joseph “Jake” Vance, 27 of Baisden, departed this life on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan.
Born on August 17, 1982, at Man, he was the son of Gary and Tammy Mounts Vance.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Joseph “Joe” Mounts and his uncle Gregory Joe Mounts.
Gary was a loving son, brother, father, grandson, uncle, nephew, and friend. He loved hunting, fishing, racing and spending time with his family and friends. He was an active volunteer firefighter. He was a general laborer and of the Church of God faith. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to love and cherish his memory are: his parents, Gary and Tammy Mounts Vance of Baisden; his sister, Natasha (Roy) Blankenship of Kentucky; his precious son, Braxton Belcher of Wharncliffe; his maternal grandmother, Carol Mounts of Baisden; his paternal grandparents, Harry and Helen Brown Vance of Justice; his special nephew, Starling Blankenship of Kentucky; his fiancée, Brittani Heath and their unborn child; his four special uncles: Keith (Lisa) Mounts of Hanover, Joey (Doni Jo) Mounts of Hampden, Kent (Jacquetta) Vance of Fanrock, and Harry Glen (Tammy) Vance of Accoville; his three special aunts: Teresa (David) Gibson of Tennessee, Lori Vance of Man, Crystal (Norwood) Harrison of Gilbert; and a host of special cousins, family, and friends.
Friends may gather with the family at the Lighthouse Church at Baisden on Friday, May 7th from 6 to 9 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 8th at the Lighthouse Church with the Rev. Danny Ward, Rev. Winfred Bradford, and Rev. Jonathan Bradford officiating.
Burial will follow in the Roy Cline Cemetery at Baisden.
He will be carried to his final resting place by: Keith Yates, Justin Kennedy, Keith Mounts, Jr., Norwood Harrison, Roy Lee Blankenship, and Gene Rhineheart.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Keith, Joey, and Joseph “Boo” Mounts, Glen and Kent Vance, Grim Ellis, and Jeremy Harrison.
