Gussie G. “Buddy” Morgan, 80 of Logan, departed this life on Thursday, January 21, 2010, at Logan Regional Medical Center.
Born at Man on December 15, 1929, he was the son of the late Theodore Gussie Morgan and Georgia Edna (Davis) Morgan Thompson and step-parents, Charlie Thompson and Hazel Walls Morgan.
Buddy was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a merchant and businessman, owning and operating Gilbert Discount T.V. Inc. and Radio Shack and Bowl-Mor Lanes Bowling Alley. He was a veteran Staff Sergeant of the US Air Force serving from 1950 to 1955. He loved to bowl, he was an avid fisherman, and a big nascar fan. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to love and cherish his memory are: his wife, Janice L. Browning Morgan; his three children: Stan (Sue) Morgan of Logan, Kim (Fred) Laxton of Martinsville VA, and Sherri Morgan of Knoxsville TN; his five wonderful grandchildren: Jerrod Mitchell, Gary McComis, Cynthia (Randy) Cline, Bryan (Angela) McComis, and Steven (Katherine) McComis all of Gilbert; his seven brothers and sisters: Donzel (Joyce) Morgan of New Jersey, Roger Morgan of Coal Mountain, Deanna West of Fredricksburg VA, Rodney Morgan of Rochester NY, Lana Kennedy, Robert (Christine) Morgan, and Teddy (Annette) Thompson all of Coal Mountain; his eleven precious great grandchildren; and a host of other dear family and friends.
Friends may gather with the family at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Saturday, January 23rd from 6 to 9 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, January 24th at the Coal Mountain Community Church with the Rev. Darrell Davis officiating.
Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens at Matheny. Military grave side services will be performed by the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #141 of Belfry Kentucky.
He will be carried to his final resting place by his family.
Honorary pallbearers are: Donzel, Roger, Rodney, and Robert Morgan, Teddy Thompson, Jerrod Mitchell, and Fred Laxton.
