Jody Earnest Thomas

Jody Earnest Thomas, 47 of Simon, departed this life on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Whitby.

Born at Welch on October 11, 1962, he was the son of the late Earnie and Edith Lawrence Thomas.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers:  Donald, Frank, and Teddy Thomas, and Steve Collins and one sister, Rosalee Walker.

Jody was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.  He was a disabled general laborer for the Department of Natural Resources, and of the Baptist faith.  He loved talking with his CB buddies and spending time with his wonderful family and friends.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to love and cherish his memory and to carry on his legacy include his three sons:  Jody (Jessica) Thomas II of Coal City, Brian (Brandi) Thomas of Alexandria VA, and Travis Thomas of Sophia; his wife, Jinnie Thomas of Sophia; his two beautiful and precious granddaughters: Keana and Paisley Thomas; his wonderful and precious grandson, Jody Thomas II; his eight brothers:  Jessie, Stanley, and Rick Collins, and Randell Thomas, all of Long Branch, Ronnie Jordan and Gene Thomas of Virginia, William Thomas of Ohio, and Nick Collins of Georgia; and his sister Janet Lamanna of Ohio; and a host of other dear family and friends.

Friends may gather with the family at the Long Branch Freewill Baptist Church at Simon on Wednesday, March 24^th from 6 to 11 pm.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 25^th at the Long Branch Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Lonnie Blankenship and Rev. Roy Lee Blankenship officiating.

Burial will follow in the Lawrence Cemetery at Simon.

He will be carried to his final resting place by his family and friends.
