A sweet and loving mother, Katherine P. West, 81, of Hanover, went home to be with Jesus, on Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital in Charleston, with her children by her side holding her.
Born at Welch on September 17, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Troy and Bessie Riffe Lee.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Delores Ann West and a granddaughter, Constance M. Tye.
“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” Katherine was a loving, wonderful mother, who sacrificed so much for her children. She was a homemaker and a member of the Hanover Freewill Baptist Church. She was a mother to the community and always had a loving smile and warm heart for all. She will be sadly missed by us all! Mom we will see you again! Be looking for us! You will always be in our hearts!
Those left to love and cherish her memory are: her nine wonderful children: Kenny & Diane West of Fairton NJ, Tommy & Tresea West of Brenton, Syreda & Robert Bryant of Ararat VA, Crockette & Rhonda West of Baisden, Timmy & Shelia Lee of Ikes Fork, Walter & Karen West of Ikes Fork, Joey & Michelle West of Mt Airy NC, Dee & Sherry West of Hanover, and Jeffery Alden of Middleton KY; her sister, Willie Golden of Texas; her 20 grandchildren; her 16 great grandchildren; her special friends: Ronald, Brenda, Sandi, and Eugene Reed and Jamie and Sissy Browning; and a host of other dear family and friends.
Friends may gather with the family at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Sunday, February 7th from 6 to 9 pm. A service will be held at 7:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, February 8th at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jonas Trent officiating.
Burial will follow at Iaeger Memorial Gardens at Roderfield.
She will be carried to her final resting place by: Shawn Lee, Otis Riffee, Jamie Browning, Erick Cline, Michael & Nathan Tye, and Jamie & Bubbles Morgan.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Poncho Lee, Jimmy West, Travis Barbour, Chris & Brandon West, and Paul Morgan.
