Lovis June Cline Hughes

A sweet and loving mother, Lovis June Cline Hughes 77 of Gilbert, who fought a good fight and kept the faith, is now at home in her new mansion in heaven dancing at the feet of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  She went home to be with her Lord and her loved ones waiting for her in heaven on Friday, February 26th, 2010 from CAMC—Memorial Division, Charleston.

Born at Wharncliffe on September 3, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Rebecca Stinson Cline.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bruce Hughes; her son, Bruce Michael Hughes; two daughters:  Melissa Gayle and Jacquetta Sue Hughes; seven brothers:  Shirl, Charles, Walter Jr., Hansford, Glenn, and two infant brothers, Lane and Earl Cline; and five sisters:  Lillian Trent, Violet Compton, Verlie “Kate” Manuel, and two infant sister, Pearl and Bernice Cline.

Lovis was a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  She had a heart of gold and a wonder and loving smile for everyone she met.  She was a retired sales personnel for White’s Furniture at Gilbert and a member of the Eagle Sanctuary at Long Bottom of Mallory.

Those left to love and cherish her memory and to carry on her legacy include her four loving daughters:  Bonnie (Mack) Lester of Gilbert, Palma (Jeff) Morgan of Hanover, Donna (Charles) Hamilton of Pineville, and Susan Michelle Hughes Jewell of Gilbert; her five wonderful grandsons:  Dennis Craig Lester, Gregory Hughes, Heath Hughes, Michael C. Hamilton, and Isaac Hughes Jewell; her four precious granddaughters:  Wendi E. Patrick, Missy D. Birchfield, Rebecca R. “Becki” Lester, and Jaime Michelle Jewell; her seven precious great grandchildren:  Justin C. Lester, Aaron C. Lester, MaKayla J. Patrick, Baylee E. Patrick, Levi Hughes, Brianna Hughes, and Layla G. Lester; her brother, Clifford (Ider) Cline of Wharncliffe; her very special childhood friend, Merle Tramel of Wharncliffe; and a host of other dear family and friends.

Friends may gather with the family to celebrate her life at the Eagle Sanctuary at Long Bottom of Mallory on Tuesday, March 2nd from 6 to 9 pm.

A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 3rd at the Eagle Sanctuary with Bishop Anthony Hudgins, Pastor Steven Duty, Bishop Dewey Lusk, and Evangelist Charlene Miller officiating. 

Entombment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby Heights, Pecks Mill.

She will be carried to her final resting place by: Michael Hamilton, Jimmy Vance, Bobby Hall, Berry Carter, Thomas White, Larry Dotson, and Justin C. Lester.

Honorary pallbearers will be:  Tom White, Benny Belcher, Archie Salmons, Charles V. Hamilton, Jeffrey K. Morgan, Craig Lester, Mack Lester, and Dwight Layne.
