Mathias "Buddy" Ellis

On Friday July 9th 2010, a child of God, Mathias (Buddy) Ellis, 71, of Bruno, went home to be with the Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and to join his loved ones waiting for him in Heaven, from Logan Regional Medical Center.
Born February 15th, 1939, at Bruno, he was the son of the late Harmon and Dementia Christian Ellis.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Janice Glandon Ellis; eight brothers, Charles Ellis, Kadger Ellis, Lavon Ellis, Donzil Ellis, Zenith Ellis, Ronald Ellis, Darrell Ellis, Ricky Ellis; one sister, Shirley (Ellis) Gill.
Mathias (Buddy) was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, uncle, great-grandfather, and friend. He was an avid fisherman. He thoroughly enjoyed life as a Christian. He was a member of Sandlick Freewill Baptist Church, serving as a trustee for 15 years.
Those left to love and cherish his memory and to carry on his legacy include his loving wife of 49 years, Shelby (Grimmett) Ellis of Bruno; three sons, Bernard (Natalie) Ellis, Donald (Frankie) Ellis of Bruno, & Darren (Stephanie) Ellis of Ashton, WV; eight precious grandchildren, Bridgette (Steven) Ellis, Brandi (Eric) Nester, Lakein (Richard) Linville, and Aaron, Katie, Heather, Rachel, and Christopher Ellis; three great-grandchildren, Alexa, Ronald, and Bailey Ellis; six sisters, Opal Blankenship of Bruno, Barbara (Fred) Newman of Hurricane, WV, Wanda (Larry) Sites of Petersburg, WV, Kay (Michael) Roberts of Chapmanville, WV, Sandra (Michael “Cud”) Ellis of Accoville, Sharon (Wade) Hatfield of Moneta, Va; six brothers, Michael of Moneta, Va, Danny, Jackie (Sue) Ellis of Newak, OH., Harold (Lynn) Ellis of Accoville, Larry (Martha) Ellis of St. Petersburg Fl, and Harmon (Debbie) Ellis Jr. of Emmett; a special sister-in-law, Edna Mae Ellis; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other dear family and friends who he loved deeply.
Friends may gather with the family at the Sandlick Freewill Baptist Church of Bruno on Tuesday, July 13th, 2010, from 6 to 11pm.
Funeral will commence on Wednesday, July 14th at the Sandlick Freewill Baptist Church at 1:00 pm. The Rev. Bill Cantrell, Rev. Linzell Walls, and Rev. Tilly Walls will be officiating the ceremonies with Bob And Dixe Frazier singing.
Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Pecks Mills, WV. He will be carried to his final resting place by his nephews and friends.
Honorary pallbearers are: Jerry Toler, Charlie Williamson, Joe Lane, Wally Griffin, Woody Gillespie, Jake Smith, Kelly Smith, Ronald Walls, Roger Walls, Ozzie Burgess, Keith Cline, Rick Browning, Kenny Smith, and Elzie Lamb.
