Maple and Montana Chapman, Jr.

On Monday, May 3rd, 2010, a sweet and loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend, Montana Chapman, Jr., 87 of Baisden, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, his loving wife of 62 years, Maple Mae Hunt Chapman, and his other loved ones waiting for him in heaven, from his residence.

Born on March 31, 1923 at Baisden, he was the son of the late Tane and Gracie Cline Chapman.

In addition to his parents and his loving wife he was preceded in death by three brothers:  Venice, Denver, and Racy Chapman and three sisters:  Irene, Josie, and Junean.

Montana was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.  He was a retired heavy equipment operator for Gopher Mining, a veteran of the US Navy, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Gilbert.  Montana like car races, watching wrestling, and going fishing with his family and friends at their summer home on Cave Run Lake in Kentucky. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to love and cherish his memory and to carry on his legacy include his two sons:  Eddie (Gay) Chapman of Gilbert and Ricky (Debbie) Chapman of Lynco; his daughter, Sheila Chapman of Beckley; his wonderful grandsons:  Douglas (Sam) Chapman of Gilbert and Eric (Greta) Cline of Baisden; his beautiful granddaughters:  Melissa (Dwayne) Cline of Logan, Victoria (Warren) Brown of Gilbert, Amanda and Ashely Chapman, both of Beckley; his wonderful great grandsons:  Andreau Morgan of White Sulfur Springs, Joshua Chapman and Madison Brown, both of Gilbert, and Ranse Cline of Baisden; his beautiful great granddaughter, Sarah Chapman of Gilbert; a special caregiver, Stephanie Birchfield; and a host of other dear family and friends.

Friends may gather with the family at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Wednesday, May 5th from 6 to 9 pm.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 6th, at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Lester and Rev. Jim Nagy officiating.

Burial will follow in the Chapman Cemetery at Baisden.  Military grave side services will be performed by the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #141 of Belfry Kentucky.

He will be carried to his final resting place by: his grandsons:  Douglas E. Chapman, Andreau Morgan, Joshua Chapman, Madison Brown; grandsons-in-law: Warren Brown and Dwayne Cline; and his granddaughter, Sarah Chapman.

Honorary pallbearers will be:  Leo Browning, Ronnie Mounts, Billy Beheler, and Arthur, Doug, and Jessie Ellis.
