Sheila Joan Mitchell Curtis

A sweet and loving wife and mother, Sheila Joan Mitchell  Curtis, 64 of Chaparral, New Mexico, formerly of Gilbert, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and to join her loved ones waiting for her in heaven, on Sunday, March 14, 2010, from her home.

Born at Gilbert on January 15, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Connie and Vernie Browning Mitchell.

Sheila was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to love and cherish her memory and to carry on her legacy include her loving husband, James W. “Jim” Cutis of Chaparral NM; her two loving sons:  Vance Ray (Hope) Curtis and Gregory Scott (Shaye) Curtis; her four wonderful grandchildren:  Rebecca Burns, Vance Ray Curtis, Jr., Jimmy Lee Curtis, and Megan Curtis; her three precious great grandchildren: Breanna and Ethan Burns, and Cheyanne Curtis; her three brothers:  Phillip Morris (Flo) Mitchell, Ward Lee (Rita) Mitchell, and Danny Ray (Rita) Mitchell; her four sisters:  Patricia (James) Bartram, Phyllis (Johnny) Davis, Peggy Stevens, and Reba (Aven) Morgan; and a host of other dear family and friends. 

Services were held at the Hillcrest Baptist Church in El Paso, Texas, on Friday, March 19, 2010 at 9:30 am with her son Vance Ray Curtis Sr. officiating.

She was laid to rest in the Fort Bliss National Cemetery at El Paso, Texas.
