Travas Shain Hatfield

A wonderful and loving son, brother, and uncle, Travas Shain Hatfield, 30, of Delbarton and Galax VA, departed this life on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Welch Community Hospital.

Born on August 1, 1979 at South Williamson, KY, he was the son of Jimmy “Herb” and Deborah Allen Hatfield.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jim “Old Man” and Edna Hatfield and his maternal grandparents, Paul Allen and Mary Alice Allen.

Travas was a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend.  He was owner of J & D Trucking and of the Church of Christ Faith.  He loved canoeing, mountain biking, restoring his ’54 Chevy Truck and other antique cars, and dirt track racing with his Dad and the team of “Hobby Horse Racing”.  One of his greatest joys was spending time playing with Mason and Kagan and spending time with his family and friends.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to love and cherish his memory and to carry on his legacy include his parents, Jimmy “Herb” and Deborah Allen Hatfield of Delbarton and Galax VA; his sister, Cami Jo (Todd) Layne of Delbarton; his wonderful nephew, Mason Layne of Delbarton; his precious niece, Kagan Layne of Delbarton; his uncles:  Edward (Bobbie) Hatfield of Galax, VA,  Richard Hatfield of Galax, VA, David (Deloris) Hatfield of Coco Beach, FL, Mike (Tammy) Allen of Shelbyville, KY, and Jon Paul Allen of Justice; his aunts:  Virginia Cline of Justice, Terri (Carl) Fuller of Justice; and Penny Meade of Gilbert; and a host of other dear family and friends.

Friends may gather with the family to celebrate Travas’ life at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Saturday, June 5th from 6 to 9 pm.

The celebration of his life will continue on Sunday, June 6th  at 2:00 pm at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Carl Fuller officiating.

Burial will follow in the Hatfield Cemetery at Varney.

Travas will be carried to his final resting place by family and friends.
