Joe Edward Kennedy

Joe Edward Kennedy, born September 22, 1953 on Long Branch, WV, went home to be with family and the Lord, Jesus, April 1, 2024 from CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston, WV.

Joe was a loving husband, father, brother and friend. He enjoyed watching Westerns and TV, gardening, sitting on the porch and around bonfires, picking greens, riding four-wheelers, walking in the park, and talking on the phone to family and friends. He loved his pop and snack cakes, and hated it when people called him "Kenneda" instead of Kennedy.

Those having a reunion in heaven with him include: one precious baby; his father and mother: Mason and Ilene Kennedy; two brothers, Danny and Junior Kennedy; his sister, Ruth Estepp; two brothers-in-law, Willard Cline and Kenney Bledsoe; sister-in-law, Alice Kennedy; father-in-law, Bruce Hatfield; mother-in-law, Villia Hatfield; and a special uncle-in-law, Harvey Hatfield.

Those left to mourn and wait for the reunion are his loving wife of 52 years, Dolly Kennedy; daughter, Villa Kelly Dawn Kennedy (boyfriend Jeremy B); two sons: Bruce (Casey) Kennedy and Brian (Kayla) Kennedy; three sisters: Peggy and her husband Troy Morgan, Ernestine and her husband John Ward, and Lucy and her husband Everett Cochran; brother, Bobby and his wife Becky Kennedy; two nieces: Wanda and her husband Donald "Tombo" Colegrove and Charlene Morgan and her boyfriend Garland Martin; brother-in-law, Terry Estepp; honorary grandson, Levi Carter; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Dad had loving pets that stayed by his side: four dogs: Buddy, Shepherd, BB, and Puppylove; and one cat, Tripod.

Dad will forever be missed but will always live in the memories and hearts of those he left behind. He was a fighter all the way to the very end. Those who knew him and loved him, have the honor of his memory. Dad and Mom spent 52 years together and were together in his final moments. His memory will always be held close and cherished. Until we meet again, remember the stories.

He will be honored at the Upper Room Jesus Name church at Long Branch, Simon, WV.  Visitation will begin at 6 PM on Saturday, April 6, 2024 with a special service to begin at 7 PM.  Funeral services will commence at the church Sunday, April 7, 2024 at 2 PM with Rev. Lowell Smith and Rev. Freddie Thompson officiating, with burial to follow at the Carter Cemetery on Browning Fork, Gilbert, WV.  Dad will be carried to his resting place by family and friends.
