Obituary
Dolly Adkins, 90 of Justice, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to join her many loved ones waiting for her in heaven on Saturday, January 28, 2012, from CabellHuntingtonHospital.
Born on October 29, 1921, she was the daughter of the Late McKinley and Murlie Blankenship Perry.
In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her loving husband Wilson Adkins, infant daughter Mildred, two granddaughters, Lisa Allen and Tammy Lester, two sisters Elva Fortner and Hazel Lester, two brothers Hoover Perry and Opal Perry.
Dolly was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a devoted Christian who sang and played guitar in church. She wrote many songs and taught others to play guitar. Her greatest joy was her family. She especially enjoyed cooking and baking for her large family. Dolly never met a stranger and was loved dearly by family and many special friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Dolly and to mourn her passing include her four daughters: June Wistrand of Boca Raton, Fl, Joann Steele of Williamson, Betty Williams of Beckley, and Anita Peters of Huntington; her two sons: Johnny Adkins of Pounding Mill, VA, and Jimmy Adkins of Albany Ga; her eleven grandchildren: Cindy Lester, Karen Couture, Jennifer Shortt, Tony Lester, Darin Lester, John Scott, Jack Scott, John Warren Adkins, Jason Peters, Adam and Alan Adkins, her eleven great- grandchildren; two sisters: Macy Wallace and Nancy Riffe; and brother Lyle Perry; many nieces and nephews and a host of other dear family and friends
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel from 6-9pm.
Funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 12:00 noon at Mounts Funeral Home with the Rev. Randall Staten officiating. Burial will follow in the Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Dolly will be carried to her final resting place by her grandsons and other family members.
