Obituary
Evalyn Combs Kenneda, 83 of Simon, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to join her many loved ones waiting for her in heaven, on Monday, February 6th, 2012, from her residence.
Born on August 26, 1928, at Louisville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Tolliver C. “TC” and Mary Jane Baker Combs.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Raymond Kenneda; three children: Ronnie, Frankie and Glenna; her brother, Beach Combs; and two sisters: Bubie Estepp and Dorothy Kenneda.
Evalyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a homemaker and a member of the Apostolic House of Faith. Evalyn loved the Lord and loved going to church and spending time with her wonderful church family. She also loved gardening, playing in the creek, and just being outdoors. She loved spending time with her wonderful family and friends. She never met a stranger and her arms were always open to give a hug. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Evalyn and to mourn her passing include her three sons: Jessie (Belinda) Kenneda of Simon, Randall (Mary Bell) Kenneda of Wayne County and Tommy (Sherry) Kenneda of Man; her four daughters: Christine (Steve) King of Randallman NC, Aretta (Matthew) Blankenship and Susan (Howard) Blankenship, both of Simon, and Charlene “Pud” Kenneda of Randallman NC; her fifteen grandchildren; her twenty-five great-grandchildren; her five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may gather with the family at the Apostolic House of Faith at Simon on Wednesday, February 8th and Thursday, February 9th after 6 pm with a special service at 7 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, February 10th at the Apostolic House of Faith with the Rev. Barry Brooks officiating.
