Franklin D Walker, 76 of Sprattsville, departed this life on Friday, February 3, 2012, at his residence.
Born on July 22, 1935, at Hanover, he was the son of the late McKinley and Armedda Bailey Walker.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Teresa Lynn Walker; three brothers: Glenn, Curtis and Charles Walker; and three sisters: Ruby Conley, Madge and Addie Walker.
Franklin was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He was a disabled retired coal miner. He loved spending time with his wonderful family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Franklin and to mourn his passing include his loving wife of 55 years, Emma Jean Toler Walker of Sprattsville; his two sons: Franklin (Faye) Walker of Kimball and Mike (Theressa) Walker of Justice; his daughter, Betsy Ann Walker (Dwayne Patton) of Charleston; his three brothers: Johnny, Howard “Bubby”, and Billy (Dorothy) Walker; his two sisters: Ellie (Rayburn) Dameron and Nancy Lowe; his three step-grandchildren: Tena Abbott, Wanda Justice and Jeannie Clay; his four great-grandchildren: Brittany Paynter, Miranda Wykle and Travis and Dalton Abbott; his three great-great-grandchildren: Brianna, Garrett and Lindsey; his many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may gather with the family at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Wednesday, February 8th from 6 pm to 9 pm with a special service at 7 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 9th at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Diamond Carter and Rev. Lowell Smith officiating.
Burial will follow in the Walker Family Cemetery, Hanover, WV.
Franklin will be carried to his final resting place by Dwayne Patton, his nephews: Mickey, Rickey, Bradley and Jonathan Walker, and friends: Buren Maynard and Freeland Blankenship.
Honorary pallbearers are, James E. Hatfield and Joe Blankenship.
He is gone from our sight but never from our hearts.
