Gertrude Stafford

Gertrude Stafford, 82 of Big Branch, Hanover, WV departed this life Wednesday, October 1, 2014 from her residence to go be with her Lord and Savior.

Born July 13, 1932 at Hurley VA., she was the daughter of the late Andy and Minnie (Luster) Hall.

In addition to her parents, Gertrude was also preceded in death by her loving husband: Will Stafford; her son: Ronnie R. Stafford; daughter-in-law: Betty Lou Stafford; granddaughter: Cheryl Rae Stafford; great-granddaughter: Sophie Ellis; stepfather: John Messer; her brothers: Leck and Melvin Hall; sisters: Sytha and Maudie Matney and Rosie Cline.

Gertrude was a loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to cook, clean and sew, and spend time with her family and friends. She was of the Baptist Faith.

Those left to love and cherish the memory of Gertrude are her daughters: Linda “Sissy Bug” (Gary) Browning, Bernice (Leon) Walker, all of Hanover, and Deborah (Eric) Dwire of Charleston; her son: Roger (Rose) Stafford of Hanover; her grandchildren: Brian K. Browning, Shanda R. Bishop, Anthony Dwayne (Angela) Stafford, Shianna R. Goodman, Christopher M. Stafford and Leah D. Ferrell; her great-grandchildren: Isaiah May, Jared K. Browning, Rylee E. Browning, ShaNille R. Stafford, Austin Bishop, Brayden Bishop, Kaley G. Goodman, Cruz B. Ferrell, Braxton Walls, Ethan Walls and Haven (Miss Priss) Walls; her very special friends: Madison (Mattie) Hatfield, Chelsie Reyes, Robert Reyes, and Rachel Hendricks Mendez; her special little friends: Aston Blankenship and Brooklyn Munch. Gertrude also leaves a host of other dear family and friends.

Friends may gather with the family Friday, October 3, 2014 from 6 to 9 pm at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Browning officiating.

Burial will follow in the Lester Dye Cemetery at Verner. Gertrude will be carried to her final resting place by family and friends.

She may be gone from our sight, but she will forever live on in our hearts.
