James Edward Walker, 71 of Christian, departed this life on Saturday, February 18, 2012, at his residence.
Born on May 16, 1940 at Elk Creek of Emmett, he was the son of the late Verlin and Elva Scites Walker.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Carolyn Lou Walker; four brothers: Larry, Johnny, David, and Woodrow Walker; and one sister, Marion Wingo.
James was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA District 17 and a democrat.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of James and to mourn his passing include his loving wife, Barbara “Midge” Elmore Walker; his three sons: Michael (Shanda) Walker, Pete (Linda) Walker and Jeremy (Felicia) Grimmett; his two daughters: Charlotte (Steve) Walker and Malinda Lester; his three sisters: Della Walker, Anita Eldridge and Linda Lamb; his brother, Jerry Walker; his 14 grandchildren: Josh, Ryan, and Shaun Bingham, Marissa Williams, Justin, Coty and Michael Walker, Anthony Stafford, Angela, Rachel and Christie Lester and Jimmy, Samantha and Amy Elkins; his fourteen great-grandchildren: Steven Elkins, Damien Stafford, Brayden and Jayden Lafferty, Bailey, Tatam, Ian, Nick, Corie, Dakota, and McKayla Walker, Alyssa Patterson, Cameron Lester, and Kyleigh Paynter; his close friends: Shelby Hill, Gene Lester, Luke Walls, Rick Brown, Bronzi Toler, Ramona Lester and Samantha Nelson; and a host of other dear family and friends.
Friends may gather with the family at the Pathway Church of God at Christian on Thursday, February 23rd after 6 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Friday, February 24th at the Pathway Church of God with the Rev. Harrison Williamson and Rev. Bill Cantrell officiating.
Burial will follow in the Christian Community Cemetery at Christian.
James will be carried to his final resting place by: Josh, Ryan, Bubba, Jimmy, Justin, Coty, Anthony, Millard and Mark.
Honorary pallbearers are: Luke Walls, Rick Brown, Bronzi Toler, Gene Lester, Steve Elkins and Michael Lafferty.
He is gone from our sight but never from our hearts.
