James Robert Gravley, 42 of Verner, departed this life on Sunday, February 12, 2012, at CAMC-Memorial Hospital, following a long illness.
Born on August 29, 1969 at Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Franklin Eugene and Corrine Hatfield Gravley.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Jackie Gravley; one sister, Patty Sue Gravley; his paternal grandparents, Phelton and Woodsey Gravley Pack; and his maternal grandparents, Don and Arnie Harvey Hatfield.
James was a loving brother, uncle, great-uncle, nephew and friend. He was a disabled security guard and of the Baptist Faith. He loved spending time with his wonderful family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of James and to mourn his passing include his sister, Donna Gravley of Gilbert; his five brothers: Ronald Gravley of Verner, Joe (Candace) Gravley of Verner, Richard (Angie) Gravley of Huff Creek, Starlin Gravley of Verner, and Darnell (Marsha) Gravley of Verner; his five nephews; his four nieces; his eight great-nephews; his five great-nieces; a special aunt and uncle, Georgie and Felton Pack; and a host of other dear family and friends.
Friends may gather with the family at the Verner Community Church at Verner on Wednesday, February 15th after 6 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 16th at the Verner Community Church with the Rev. Walter Grimmett officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dye Cemetery at Verner.
James will be carried to his final resting place by: Chris and John Gravley, Timothy and Jessie Gravley, Casey Wiley, Jimmy Lester, Kevin Grimmett, and Danny “Moose” Kennedy.
Honorary pallbearers are: his brothers: Ronald, Joe, Richard, Starlin and Darnell Gravley, Lucus Gravley, Danny Wiley, Greg Hatfield, Felton and Leonard “Pac Man” Pack, and Terry Gross.
He is gone from our sight but never from our hearts.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Mounts Funeral Home, Inc. at P.O. Box 1567, Gilbert, WV 25621, to help with funeral expenses.
