Leander Hatfield, 84 of Landville, departed this life Sunday, August 27, 2017 from CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston, WV. Born January 1, 1933 at Gilbert, he was the son of the late Bruce and Rosa Carter Hatfield. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his first wife, and mother of his children: Janice (Boggess) Hatfield; his second wife: Louell Toler; sons: Danny Keith and Michael Bruce Hatfield; daughters: Wanda Lee Lester and Evelyn Kay Justice; brothers: Ballard and Cecil Hatfield; sisters: Ethel Copley and Lula Toler and Sadie and Eunice Hatfield. Leander was a loving person, who had a giving heart who loved helping others in need. He was of the Freewill Baptist Faith, and had served in the U.S. Army. He was also a retired U.M.W.A coal miner of 35 years. Those left to love and cherish his memory and to mourn his loss are his loving wife: Faye (Painter) Hatfield of Landville; his children: Gregory Paul (Lorrie) Hatfield of Louisburg, NC, Vickie Rena (Benny) Grimmett of Landville, Lisa Lynn (Timothy) Browning of Whitman and Tonya Hatfield of Madison; his grandchildren: Gary (Rhonda) Lester, Robin Lester, Joey (Angel) Lester, Keith Hatfield, Nikki (Lile) Hammond and Tia Noon, Amber (Josh) Watts, Sheena (John) Griffin, Greg (Aimee) Hatfield Jr., Latasha (Jack) Ellison, Brittany (Kevin) Maynard, Brianna (Chris) Baisden, Michael (Katelynn) Belcher, Katilyn Hatfield, Jeremy Hatfield, Tyler Browning, Lexi, Savannah, Dakota and Gabriell Hatfield; son-in-law: Kenneth Lester of Landville; daughter-in-law: Lisa Hatfield of Landville; mother-in-law: Mary Hatfield of Varney; 13 Great Grandchildren. He also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends. Friends may gather with the family Wednesday, August 30, 2017 from 6 to 9 pm at the Greenville Freewill Baptist Church, where funeral services will commence Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 3:00 pm, with Bro. Jouquine Ooten and Bro. Jackie Jesse officiating. Burial will follow in the Browning Dye Cemetery at Verner. Leander will be carried to his final resting place by pallbearers: Gary and Joey Lester, Tyler Browning, Michael Belcher, Greg Hatfield, Jr., and Keith Hatfield. Military graveside will be provided by The Disabled American Veterans Chapter # 141, Belfry, KY. His wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved him.

Visitation: Wednesday, August 30, 2017 from 6 to 9 pm.
Funeral: Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 3:00 pm.
Place: Greenville Freewill Baptist Church, Greenville, WV.
