Michael James “Slim” Lester, 43 of Lenoir NC formerly of Verner, departed this life on Tuesday, February 7th, 2012 in LenoirNC, due to a heart attack.
Born on December 3, 1968 at Man, he was the son of Katherine and Carlos Mounts of Dandridge, Tenn.and the deceased Garold Lester of Plant City, Fla.
Proceeding him in death were his two grandmothers: Lavonna Pack, who he loved dearly, and Bertha Harless and grandfather, Paul Caulhoun.
Michael was a professional cross country truck driver, known as Slim Jim for over 20 years. He was a Navy Veteran and a Federal Armed Guard for the United States Government. He attended University of Phoenix, for Computer Science with a 4.0 average. He loved music and played a guitar and would sing for all of us to enjoy and love. Computers and Electronics, he could take apart and build a computer that a computer hacker would admire.
Those left to love and cherish his memory, and to mourn his passing include the love of his life, Linda Vance; his daughter, Brittany Estepp of Huntington; his mother Katherine Mounts and step-father, Carlos Mounts of Dandridge Tenn.; his grandfather, Calvin Samuel Lester of Vera Beach, Fla.; his sister, Jocelyn “Josie” New and brother-in-law, Little Joe New, and niece, Cadence Sophia New of Delbarton; his uncle Michael Pack and wife Kelli of Verner; his aunt Barbara King Weiss of Cross Lanes and his aunt Gayle Lester Clellend of Vera Beach, Fla.; his cousins: Summer New and Jamey New of Chapmanville, Ryan King and Amber King of Harts, Becca King of Myrtle Beach, SC, Toby Copen of Cross Lanes and Brandon Cline of Chapmanville; and a multitude of friends who’s life he had touched.
We will always remember him by his beautiful smile, his sense of humor and the love he had for all.
Friends may gather with the family at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Saturday, February 11th from 6 pm to 9 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, February 12th at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Anthony Hudgins officiating.
Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Michael will be carried to his final resting place by: Little Joe New, Bob Blackburn, Bobby Blackburn, Josh Layne, Shane Christian and Russell “Ace” Sheppard.
He is gone from our sight but never from our hearts.
