Sebert May

Sebert May, 90, of Gilbert, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 18, 2014, from South Williamson, KY.

Born on February 27, 1924, at Wharncliffe, he was the son of the late George and Nancy (Patrick) May.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Darrell Douglas May; one granddaughter, Shanda Gail May; seven sisters and two brothers.

Sebert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and a great friend to all. He was a retired coal miner. Sebert was a member of the Ben Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church. He loved to squirrel hunt and loved working in his garden.

Those left to love and cherish the memory of Sebert are his loving wife of 71 years, Eunice Carter May; five sons: Arnold Ray May, Harold (Addie) May, Denny (Nedra) May, Delmas May, and Larry (Tambra) May, all of Gilbert; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of many other dear relatives and friends.

Friends may gather with the family on Sunday, December 21, 2014, at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel from 6-9 pm with a special service beginning at 7 pm. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, December 22, 2014, at the funeral home with Rev. Tim Lester, Rev, Troy Lester, and Rev. James Tiller officiating.

Burial will follow in the Carter Family Cemetery at Browning Fork.

Sebert will be carried to his final resting place by: James Smith, Eddie Ray Smith, Trevor Brayden Cline, Jeff Carter, Zack Hatfield, Craig Patrick, and Donald Belcher.

Honorary pallbearers and great friends: Elsick Blankenship, Chester Brown, Buggy Roberts, James Trent, Danny Browning, Roy Lee Lester, Benny Musick, Craig Patrick, Jr. Cantrell, Harmon Hardin, Ernie Gibson, Oscar Keen, Brain Hatfield, and his many church friends.

He is gone from our midst but in our hearts forever.
