Lowell "Hoppy" Mounts graduated from Gilbert High School in 1966. He began his career in the funeral industry in 1970 at Brooks Funeral Home, formerly of Hampden WV, with the director in charge, Melvin Brooks Sr.

In 1976, he attended the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science where he earned the Bill Pierce Award after being elected "Most Professional Graduate" by his peers.  In October 1978, Hoppy returned to Gilbert to start his family and establish Mounts Funeral Home.

In 1979, Hoppy, along with his wife Linda Lee Mounts began their efforts to convert and expand his family home into their new business and primary residence.

In 1984 Hoppy became a member of the West Virginia Funeral Directors Association.

Today, Mounts Funeral Home continues to serve our community as the primary provider of funeral and mortuary services in the area.
