Amos David New

Amos David Fonzie New, 65, of Welch, WV., departed this life Saturday, January 19, 2019 from Welch Community Hospital.

Born November 15, 1953 at Welch, he was the son of the late Amos and Virgie (Kennedy) New.

In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his sister: Wanda Morgan and his brother: Arnold New.

An avid outdoorsman, Fonzie loved riding his motorcycle and driving trucks.

Those left to love and cherish his memory are his fiancé: Violet Lester, of Welch; son: Kenneth New of Williamson; daughters: Amanda Wilks of Prestonsburg, KY and Kyla Roark of Ashland, KY; grandchildren: Gary Robinson and Clifton Blake Robinson, both of KY; great-granddaughters: Scarlett Robinson of KY and Octavia Robinson (expected arrival in March, 2019); sisters: Norma (Buck) Hatfield of Gilbert, and Arlene (Terry) VanNatter of Greenbriar County; his extended family: Melanie, Chris, Haley, Christopher Julian, John Tyson and Misty Nester, all of Welch; Bill, April and Elijah Warren, all of Bluefield; nephew: Aaron Ashley of Northfork. He also leaves behind a host nieces, nephews, and other dear relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 6:00 pm at the Full Gospel Church of God at Baisden, with the Rev. Jonas Trent officiating.

To honor his wishes, his remains have been cremated.
