Barbara Ruth (Straley) Rawls

Barbara Ruth Rawls, 59 of Gilbert, departed this life to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 1, 2019 from CAMC Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Born November 25, 1959 at Welch, WV she was the daughter of Dennis & Alice Straley of Justice, WV.

Barbara was preceded in death by an infant son: David Rawls; her grandparents: Garland & Hazel Lester.

Barbara was a member of the Reach Out Community Church where her husband, Clifford, is the Pastor.  She was a very faithful Christian for going on 43 years.  She was one of the best at doing Vacation Bible Schools and Christmas Plays, she was an avid choir director and Bible Study teacher.  Barb was a great support to her husband’s ministry and was the associate executive director of The Store House, Inc. of Gilbert, WV; where she helped feed close to 400 families a month.  She loved Thanksgiving and Christmas, because she knew she would be helping many families in need.  Her secretarial skills with Reach Out and the Store House were top-notch.  On a personal note, Barb was Clifford’s high school sweetheart and they were joined together in holy matrimony in 1978.  She has been a wonderful helpmate to him for almost 41 years.  She was so proud of her three children and was the greatest Nana to her six grandchildren.  She will be greatly missed by all until the Lord allows them to be together again.  

Those left to love and cherish the memory of Barbara and to mourn her passing include her loving husband of 41 years: Clifford Rawls of Gilbert; two daughters: Betina (Acie) Elliott of Wayne, WV, Gini (Bub) Ellis of Baisden; son: Brad (Erica) Rawls of Gilbert; parents: Dennis & Alice Straley, Justice, WV; six precious grandchildren: Gabrielle Elliott, Hannah Ellis, Braylee Elliott, Heidi Ellis, Hazley Ellis, Owen Rawls; brother: Dennis (Romana) Straley, Missouri; sister: Marie (Bear) Browning of Justice; many nieces and nephews and a host of other dear family and friends.

Friends may gather with the family on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Freedom Full Gospel Assembly House of Prayer from 6-9 pm.  Funeral Service will commence on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 12:00 pm at the Freedom Full Gospel Assembly House of Prayer with Bishop Will Compton, Pastor Cab Wolford, Rev. Daniel Dean officiating.

Burial will follow at Justice Memorial Gardens, Justice, WV.

Barbara will be carried to her final resting place by: Chris Sparks, Kris Preece, Dakota Rawls, Trampus Browning, Marty Straley, Bear Browning, Jay Browning and Chad Rassette.  Honorary pallbearers include: Phil Cook, Clarence Rawls and Mike Sherman.
