Cecil Edgar Ellis, 82 of Hanover, WV passed away Monday, April 1, 2019 surrounded by his family.
Born January 26, 1937 at Hanover, Cecil was the son of the late Maxwell and Estella (Davis) Ellis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Lorraine Brown Ellis; brother: Randall Ellis and sister: Nettie Ellis Burress.
Among his professions, Cecil worked as a TV lineman, a school bus operator, and a coal miner, having retired from the coal industry. In his younger years, you could find Cecil outside playing volleyball. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and cheering for Bill and Chase Elliott. He was an avid WVU basketball and football fan. Cecil had a fondness for animals and throughout the years had many furry, four-legged companions whom he loved dearly.
Cecil was above all devoted to his family. He was a dedicated father and proud papaw. He was his grandchildren’s #1 fan and always supported them in their endeavors. Cecil was a kind, humble, hardworking and generous man. He was loved by all who knew him.
Those left to love and cherish his memory include his two daughters: Lisa Ellis and Teresa (Mark) Gunnells both of Hanover; his granddaughter: Markie Gunnells (Jonathan Nagy); grandson: Tyler Gunnells (Coleman Jarrett) all of Morgantown; his sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, his nieces and nephews, and a host of other dear family and friends; and his special dog Cissy.

Friends may gather with the family on Friday, April 5, 2019 at Mounts Funeral Home Chapel from 6-9pm. Funeral services will commence on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Arble Morgan officiating.
Burial will follow in the Ellis Family Cemetery at Hanover.
Cecil will be carried to his final resting place by: Tyler Gunnells, Coleman Jarrett, Jonathan Nagy, Randy Ellis, Kadin Ellis, Kolby Ellis and Chandler Cannoy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you perform acts of kindness for others in Cecil’s memory.
