Clarence Carmel VanNatter Sr. 93, of Wharncliffe departed this life on Thursday, December 26, 2019 from his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born January 27, 1926 at Banco, WV he was the son of the late Howard and Esther (Nelson) VanNatter.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife Othella Mae (Bryant) VanNatter; his son: Larry Hebra VanNatter; sister: Ruth Lambert; brothers: Gene VanNatter, Harry VanNatter; granddaughter: Sarah Beth Mounts; one great granddaughter and two great grandsons; and best friend: Benji (Lhaso Apso).
Clarence was a veteran of the US Army and of World War II. While serving his country he received several medals including Rifle Marksman SMG Expert, American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal World War II. He was a member of the ABC Mens Bowling and he loved hunting, fishing, his pets and he was an avid fan of Dale Earnhardt Sr.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Clarence and to mourn his passing include his two sons: Clarence Carmel VanNatter Jr of Kodac, TN, Michael (Claudette) VanNatter of Man; four daughters: Alice (Clarence) Poe of Wharncliffe, Deborah (Ron) Scarberry of Davin, Rosa (Leslie) Cline of Dandridge and Yvonne (Eddie) Trent of Gilbert; 20 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; brothers: Thomas VanNatter of Chapmanville, Loma VanNatter of New Phila, OH, Max VanNatter of Gilbert, AR; sisters: Mary Butler of Spring, TX, Sedra Brown of Magnolia, TX, Phyllis Horne of Rexburg, ID and Barbara Burright of Humble, TX; many nieces and nephews and a host of other dear family and friends.
Friends may gather with the family on Monday, December 30, 2019 at Mounts Funeral Home Chapel from 6-9 pm. A service will be held at 7:00 pm with the Bishop Michael VanNatter and Bishop Jeffrey Poe officiating. Graveside services will take place at Dover Burial Park, Dover OH, on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 1:00 pm.
Clarence will be carried to his final resting place by his grandsons.
His tender heart and beautiful smile will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
