Daniel L Ward

Daniel L Ward, 79 of Wharncliffe, WV departed this life on Monday, September 2, 2019 from Pikeville Medical Center.

Born December 2, 1939 at Wharncliffe, WV he was the son of the late Roby and Callie (Amos) Ward.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife Linda Ward; six brothers: John, George, Lincoln, Jim, Benjamin and Clarence Ward; four sisters: Leona Ellis, Myrtle Ward, Dorothy Dotson and Mary Berry.

Dan enjoyed many hobbies including Ginseng, hunting, fishing, and more than any he loved joking with everyone.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Those left to love and cherish the memory of Dan and to mourn his passing include his six sons: Rev. Danny (Imogene) Ward of Wharncliffe, Don Ward of Wharncliffe, Jimmy Ward of Wharncliffe, John (Earnestine) Ward of Simon, Matthew Ward of Wharncliffe and Gregory (Jeretta) Ward of Baisden; daughter: Serena (Richard) McGuire of Gilbert; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of other dear family and friends.

Friends may gather with the family on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Mounts Funeral Home Chapel from 6-9 pm with a special service beginning at 7:00 pm.  Funeral services will commence on Friday, September 6, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Chapel with the Rev. Diamond Carter and Rev. Garfield Hatfield officiating.

Burial will follow at Ward Cemetery at Wharncliffe, WV.

Dan will be carried to his final resting place by family and friends.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Trinity of Mingo for all their help and concern and the Pikeville Medical Center staff for the care and comfort they showed in our time of need.  Also, a special thanks to Gobb Ellis and others that helped with the grave and all who have brought food for the family.

He is gone from our sight but never from our hearts.
