Darrell "George" Gibson

Darrell “George” Gibson, 62 of Charleston, departed this life on Sunday, November 4, 2018 from CAMC Memorial to be with his Lord and Savior.

George was a kind, loving friend to all who knew him.

Born April 18, 1956 at Iaeger, WV he was the son of the late Don and Ada (Jackson) Gibson of Varney.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife: Paulette Gibson; and he mourned the loss of his siblings: Donald, Shirley, Geraldine, Verna and Maggie.

Those left to love and cherish the memory of George and to mourn his passing include his daughters: Sabrina Gibson – Burke and Marlene Gibson both of Charleston; two granddaughters: Elizabeth Ellen Christian and Caelyn Burke; four brothers: Willard (Yulonda) Gibson of Varney, Ronnie (Carol) Gibson of Tennessee, Ernest Gibson of Dayton, OH and Monroe ”Pewee” (Kaye) Gibson of Delbarton; three sisters: Lennie Doss of Wharncliffe, Bonita Gibson of Charleston and Donna Dawson (Dany) Estep of Bradshaw. George had many nieces and nephews and a host of other dear family and friends that loved him dearly.

George had spent the last 38 years in a wheelchair due to a swimming accident, but he never let it take his quality of life.  Sunday morning he didn’t lose the battle, he won his ability to walk again for eternity.

Friends may gather with the family on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the Freedom Full Gospel Assembly House of Prayer at Hampden, WV from 6-9 pm.  Funeral services will commence on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the church with the Rev. Nathanial Gibson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Gibson Family Cemetery at Varney.

George will be carried to his final resting place by family and friends.
