Donald Eugene "Big D" Browning, 83 of Verner, reunited with the love of his life, his wife of 59 years, Gloria Ann Browning, on Saturday, May 11, 2019 from Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV.
Born on June 13, 1935 at Emmett, WV, he was the loving son of the late Hurley and Wilma (Trent) Browning.
In addition to his parents, Donald was also preceded in death by his wife Gloria Ann Browning; his son: John Keith Browning.
Donald served in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was Honorably Discharged. He was also the owner/operator of Browning’s Gulf Station in Man, WV, and later the owner/operator of Browning’s Cold Carry Out in Verner, WV. Donald was a retired Truck Driver and he was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan. He attended the Verner Community Church. He also enjoyed fishing and drag racing.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Donald and to mourn his loss are his sons: Hurley E. (Candice) Browning of Ransom, KY and Donald E. (Michelle) Browning of Verner; his daughter: Wilma (Eddie) Grimmett of Verner; his daughter-in-law: Sandy Browning of Welch; his grandchildren, who he loved and cherished with all his heart: Landon and Kaitlyn Grimmett of Verner, Johnna (Travis) Icenhour of Bristol, TN, Robert (Teresa) Walls of Georgia, John Caleb Browning, Dani Lynn Browning and Emily Browning, all of Verner: his great-granddaughter: Kaelyn Walls of Georgia; a very special caregiver, that was like a daughter to him: Emily Pack of Man, WV. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other dear relatives and friends.
Friends may gather with the family on Saturday, May 18, 2019 after 6 pm at the Verner Community Church, where funeral services will commence on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Walter Grimmett and Rev. Rodney Robinette officiating. Burial will follow in the Browning Cemetery at Verner.
Donald will be carried to his final resting place by family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Winston Perry, Dale Browning, Jimmy Tiller, Randy Dye, Tom Lester, Shane Canterbury, James Nickles, Jeff Arnold and Chuck Altizer.
Military services will be provided by the D.A.V. Chapter # 141 of Belfry, KY.
Donald may be gone from our sight, but his loving heart will forever stay in our memory.
