Douglas James Walker

Douglas James Walker, 82 of Gilbert, departed this life Sunday, April 8, 2018 from Logan Center.

Born September 13, 1935 at Welch, he was the son of the late Bruce and Lettie (Belcher) Walker.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife: Claudine Walker; his sisters: Grethie Morgan and Janice Matney; his brothers: Larry Eugene Walker, Ernest Walker, John C. Walker and Bruce Walker, Jr.

Doug enjoyed going to church and spending time with his family and friends.  Doug served in the U.S. Army and he was a member of the U.M.W.A., he was also a member of the Browning Fork House of Faith.

Those left to love and cherish his memory are his sister: Claudine Mitchem (Kenneth Peal) of Bassett, Virginia; his brother: Henry Walker of Sun Hill, WV.  He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and other dear relatives and friends.

Friends may gather with the family Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at the Gilbert Church of God, where funeral services will commence at 2:00 pm with the Rev. David Hatfield officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hatfield Cemetery at Hampden.

Doug will be carried to his final resting place by his family and friends.

Military services will be provided by the D.A.V. Chapter # 141 Belfry, KY.

He may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
