James Robert Griffith

James Robert “Bob” Griffith, 72, of Verner, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 12, 2018, from Dignity Hospice House in Chapmanville.

Born November 25, 1945, at Emmett, he was the son of the late Arlie and Carrie Kennedy Griffith. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Joe Griffith, and one sister, Ernestine Cline.

Bob was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was an avid hunter who enjoyed tinkering with things. He loved going to church and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.

Those left to love and cherish Bob’s memory are his wife, Nancy Browning Griffith of Verner; two daughters: Leah Griffith (Kevin Stavnicky) of Port Clinton, OH, and Shannon (Mike) Johnson of Beavercreek, OH; five grandchildren: Ethan, Audra, and Garrett Stavnicky, Krystal Johnson, Gavin Smith, and Wesley Johnson; three brothers: Herman Griffith of London, OH, Wayman (Deloris) Griffith of Barboursville, and Wonnie (Sue) Griffith of Newark, OH; three sisters: Christine Trent of Emmett, Dottie (Keith) Browning and Flora Mae Scott all of Verner. Bob also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends.

Friends may gather with the family on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at the Verner Community Church from 12-2 pm where funeral services will commence at 2 pm with Rev. Walter Grimmett officiating.

To honor Bob’s wishes, his remains will be cremated.
