James "Snuffy" Donavan Smith

James Donavan “Snuffy” Smith, 47, of Wharncliffe, departed this life Friday, June 29, 2018 from Wharncliffe, WV.

Born on July 6, 1970 at Williamson, he was the son of James R. and Mary Lou (Browning) Smith.

He was preceded in death by his brother: Roger Darrell Smith; his sister-in-law: Twila Yvonne Smith.

James “Snuffy” enjoyed hunting, fishing and digging ginseng, but he really loved spending time with his nieces and nephews and other family and friends.

Those left to love and cherish his memory and to mourn his loss are his parents: James R. and Mary Lou Smith; his sister: Ginger Michelle (Bob) Harris; his brothers: Brian (Kelly, “Tina”) Smith and John Harold Smith, all of Wharncliffe; his nieces: Shawna (Scott) Tomblin of Ontario, Ohio, Hillary (Ryan) Altizer of Gilbert, Krystian and Kalli  Harris of Wharncliffe; nephews: Dustin (Carey) Smith of Gauley Bridge, Wesley (Nikita) Smith of Baisden, and Robby Harris of Wharncliffe; great nieces: Eden Tomblin of Ontario, Ohio, Cambrie and Camila Altizer of Gilbert, Ember Lynn Smith of Baisden and Devlin Smith of Gauley Bridge; great nephews: Ryker Harris of Pie, and Emmett Tomblin of Ontario, Ohio; his special friend, his dog: Malcolm.  He also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends.

Friends may gather with the family Tuesday, July 3, 2018 from 12 to 1:00 pm at the Ben Creek Free Pentecostal Holiness Church, where funeral services will commence at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Denny May and Rev. Danny Ward officiating.  Burial will follow in the Glen Alum Cemetery at Glen Alum.

James will be carried to his final resting place by his family and friends.

He may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
