Jerry Lee Ellis

Jerry Lee Ellis, 64, of Justice, departed this life on Thursday, March 22, 2018, from Logan Regional Medical Center.

Born April 9, 1953, at Logan County, he was the son of the late Ralph and Mary (Crosby) Ellis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Jerry Dale Ellis; one sister: Marla Workman and one brother: Eddie Ellis.

Jerry was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Jerry was a successful business owner.  He was owner and operator of J.R.’s Pizza of Justice.  He was a former coal miner, whom was very hardworking, dedicated and family-oriented.  Jerry was a member of the Gilbert Church of God, where he loved going to church and serving the Lord. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Those left to love and cherish the memory of Jerry and to mourn his passing include his daughter: Sherry (Chopper) Cantrell of Hurricane; son: Steven Joshua Ellis of Bruno; two brothers: Donald (Carol) Ellis of Creston, Ohio, Paul (Brenda) Ellis of Florida; five sisters: Ruth Ann (Herman) Brown of Greenville, Carla (Johnny) Hall of Man, JoAnn (Phillip) Grimmett of Verner, Dorothy “Tootsie” Porter of Greenville and Tammy (Jerry) Simpson of Greenville; Grandchildren: Mandy (Gary) Hatfield, Joshua Cantrell, Rayland “Savannah” Ellis, Bryson Huff, Jerry Dale Ellis, II, Miley Sky Ellis, Madison Jade Ellis; one great-grandson: Ian Blake Hatfield; special friend, John Heflin; special friends and coworkers at JR’s Pizza; his church family and friends at Gilbert Church of God; many nieces and nephews along with a host of other dear family and friends.   

Friends may gather with the family on Sunday, March 25, 2018, from 6-9 pm at the Greenville Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, March 26, 2018, at 1:00 pm at the Greenville Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Cantrell and Pastor Sherman Jones officiating.

Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

He is gone from our sight but never from our hearts.
