John Michael Zimmer

John Michael Zimmer, 74 of Mount Airy, NC departed this life on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 from Forsyth Medical Center.

Born August 7, 1944 at Cooke IL, he was the son of the late Charles Peter & Marion Alice Zimmer.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers: Thomas Zimmer and Bill Zimmer.

John was a loving son, husband, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.  He was of the Catholic faith.  He loved doing handyman jobs around the home. 

Those left to love and cherish the memory of John and to mourn his passing include his loving wife of 47 years: Cathy Bailey Zimmer of Mount Airy; two grandsons: Shea Bailey and Sage Bailey of Mohawk; two brothers: James Zimmer of Wisconsin and Richard Zimmer of Illinois; niece: Denita Bailey of Mohawk; special friends: Woody & Elouise Easter and Cindy Sechrist; and a very special home health nurse: Michelle Snow; and a host of other dear family and friends.

Friends may gather with the family on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Panther Missionary Baptist Church at Panther, WV from 6:00 – 9:00 pm.  Funeral services will commence at 12:00 on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at the Church with the Rev. Willie Coleman and Rev. Ervin Dotson officiating.

Burial will follow at Bailey Cemetery at Mohwak.

John will be carried to his final resting place by family and friends.

His beautiful smile and tender heart will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
