Joseph Michael Altizer, 53 of Bruno, passed peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 10, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born June 8, 1965 at Man, WV, Joe was the son of the late Diamond Lanford & Edith (Grimmett) Altizer, Sr.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister: Dorothy “Dottie” Barrett; one brother: Diamond “Dick” Altizer, Jr.; and his mother-in-law: Victoria (Hubert) Cresong.
Joe was a lifetime resident of Bruno. He enjoyed his time hunting and fishing with his brother Mack. He had several hobbies that brought him joy including marble collecting, knives, wood working and spending time with his sons. He was a previous employee with White Armature at Man, WV.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Joe include his loving wife of 20 years: Michelle Osborne Altizer of Bruno; two sons: Michael Altizer and Nicholas Osborne both of Bruno; sisters: Peggy (Derrick) Mynes of Milton, Doralene (Charles) Bailey of Bruno; brother: Mack (Alice) Altizer of Bruno; sister-in-law: Linda Altizer of Gilbert; he is also survived by his father-in-law: Charles (Nancy) Osborne of Shady Springs, sisters-in-law: Jessica (Richard) Collins of Spring Hill, Fl, Melony Osborne of Bruno, Cassandra Osborne (Eli Hatfield) of Shady Springs, Nichole Golf (Dallas) of Logan; brother-in-law: Charles “Chuck” (Samantha) Osborne Jr. of Braholm; he is also survived by a special niece: Brittany Osborne and Quentin Rose whom he loved as a son; as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Rada, Dr. Ahmad and Dignity Hospice Care.
Friends may gather with the family on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at the Sandlick Freewill Baptist Church from 12-1 pm where a small service will commence at 1:00 pm with Rev. Bill Cantrell officiating.
Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Pecks Mill. Joe will be carried to his final resting place by: Marion Damron, Ronald Hall, Jim Mitchell, Mike Gibson, Curtis Hunter, and David Burgess, Sr.
He is gone from our sight but never from our hearts.
