Joseph Cantrell

Joseph Cantrell, 72 of Wharncliffe, departed this life on Thursday, February 1, 2018 from Pikeville Medical Hospital.

Born June 19, 1945 at Wharncliffe, he was the son of the late Banger and Ethel Cantrell.

In addition to his parents Joseph was preceded in death by his son: Christopher Cantrell, granddaughter: Felicia Sparks; sister: Geraldine Cantrell; brothers: Ronnie, Burgess, Virgil, Drewey, Banger Jr., and Bernard Cantrell.

Joseph was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.  He was a member of the Faith Church of God.  He enjoyed fishing, four wheeling, working on old cars and digging ginseng.

Those left to love and cherish the memory of Joseph and to mourn her passing include his wife: Sheila Cantrell of Wharncliffe, children: Loretta (Kenneth) Ray of Georgia, Joanna (Robert) Sparks of Varney, Joseph Cantrell Jr. of North Carolina, Cynthia (Joseph) Mahon of Beech Creek, Jennifer (Ernest) Pack of Princeton, Wendy (Shawn) Goad of Racine; grandchildren: Jolene (Shane) Toler, Ricky Joe Hardesty, Jeremy Hardesty, Chyenn Mahon, Aaron Mahon, Auston Cantrell, Tolby Justice, Christopher Cantrell Jr., Diona Cantrell, Shawna Goad, Aidan Goad, Asheley Goad, Joseph “Evan” Cantrell III, Christopher Keeler and Casey Toler; sister: Lois Jean Blankenship of Beech Creek; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other dear family and friends.    

Friends may gather with the family on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at the Faith Church of God at Wharncliffe from 6-9 pm.  Funeral services will commence in Monday, February 5, 2018 at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Danny Ward officiating.

Burial will follow at the Cantrell Family Cemetery at Wharncliffe.

Joseph will be carried to his final resting place by Robert Sparks, Joseph Mahon, Ernest Pack Jr., Shawn Goad, Shane Toler, Casey Toler, Aaron Mahon, Aidan Goad, Christopher Cantrell Jr., and Tolby Justice.

He is gone from our sight but never from our hearts.
