Joyce (Smith) DeSantis

Joyce Anetta DeSantis, age 79, of Shenandoah Avenue, Bluefield, WV died on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Commonwealth Senior Living Center in Cedar Bluff, VA.

Born on August 29, 1939, in Glen Alum, WV she was a daughter of the late Homer and Ina Carter Smith.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Samuel Anthony DeSantis; a sister: Mary Smith Ward; three brothers: Donnie Smith, James Smith and Richard Thomas Smith.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was retired as a home health nurse.

Those left to love and cherish the memory of Joyce and to mourn her passing include her sons: Michael DeSantis of Stanford, CT, Timothy DeSantis of Wynnewood, PA; Brothers: Robert Smith of Katy, TX, Paul Smith of New Kent, VA, David Smith of Newburg, MD, Sisters: Cherie Hanna of Bluefield, WV, Judy Ellis of Wharncliffe, WV; 2 Grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and a host of other dear family and friends.

In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated with a memorial service to be held at a later date.
