Mary Kathleen (Hatfield) Carter

Mary Kathleen (Hatfield) Carter, 51, of Gilbert, departed this life Thursday, March 29, 2018 from St. Francis Hospital, Charleston, WV.

Born on September 23, 1966 at Welch, she was the daughter of the late Elba and Lena (Trent) Hatfield.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband: Terry Carter; brothers: Carl Hatfield and Elba Turley Hatfield, Jr.

Mary enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends.

Those left to love and cherish the memory of Mary, and to mourn her loss are her daughter: Ashley Carter (Josh Fanning); her grandson: Chase Fanning; her brothers: Elvis Hatfield, Randolph Hatfield, Brian (Kim) Hatfield, Sam (Becky) Hatfield, all of Browning Fork, Malcolm (Tina) Hatfield of Beech Creek; her sisters: Stephanie (Frankie) Jackson of Browning Fork, Stella Hatfield (Kenny Blankenship) of Gilbert, Loretta Hatfield of Pineville, Bonnie (Ronnie) Hatfield of Ragland, Connie Hatfield of Baisden, and Celia Wiley of Williamson; father-in-law: Rush Carter.  Mary also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and other dear relatives and friends.

Friends may gather with the family Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at the Hunt Baptist Tabernacle, Greenville, WV., where funeral services will commence at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Denny May and Rev. Jonas Trent officiating.  Burial will follow in the Carter Cemetery at Browning Fork.

Mary will be carried to her final resting place by Cody Carter, Gerry Carter and Scott Carter.

Her wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved her.
