Ona Marie Runyon

Ona Marie (Murphy) Runyon, 78 of Wharncliffe, departed this life Saturday, June 9, 2018 from her residence.

Born on November 25, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Dixie (Cantrell) Murphy.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years: Kenny Runyon; her daughters: Velma Runyon, Crystal Runyon and Ann Cline; her siblings: Emma Jean Blackburn, Arlin, Tennis, Joe and Burgess Murphy, Virgie Sowards, Ruth Ward, Laura Bradford and Ethel Johnson.

Ona was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend, who loved spending time with her family and friends, she also enjoyed taking care of her pets.  She was of the Church of God Faith.

Those left to love and cherish her memory and to mourn her loss are her daughter: Loretta (Keith) Cyrus; sons: Jeff (Angel), Kenny Joe (Tina), James (Priscilla), Jarvis (Rosebud) Runyon, all of Wharncliffe, and Dwayne (Renee) Runyon of Ramseur, NC; her brother: Virgil Murphy of Geneva, Ohio; son-in-law: Mike Cline of Hanover; her grandchildren: Jeffery Dawson, Daniel, Isaac, Lil Joe, Jeremiah, Scott, Eric, Jason and Aimee Runyon, Taylor Cline, Angie Cline Hamilton, Donnie, Kenny and Billie Jo Cyrus and Corinne Saylor; 17 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and 1 great grand child on the way.  She also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends.

Friends may gather with the family Wednesday, June 13, 2018 after 6:00 pm at the Wharncliffe Church of God, where funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Denny May and Rev. Ricky Endicott officiating.  Burial will follow in the Lester-Runyon Cemetery at Wharncliffe.

Ona will be carried to her final resting place by her grandsons and her great-grandsons.

She may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
