Opal Walker

Opal Walker, 98, of Gilbert, departed this life on Saturday, August 4, 2018, from Good Sheppard Nursing Home in Phelps, KY.

Born July 22, 1920, at Winona, WV, she was the daughter of the late Lindale and Texie (Tincher) Bays.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Walker, and one brother, Homer Perry.

Opal was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to love and cherish the memory of Opal include her three children: Karen (Billy) Blankenship of Gilbert, Lindale (Betty) Walker of Mt. Jackson, VA., and George (Pat) Walker of Charlottesville, VA; her grandchildren: Billy Ray Blankenship, Chad Blankenship, Craig Walker, Tracey Walker, Terena Hale, and Kelly Smith; 11 great-grandchildren; one special friend, Ruby Browning of Tamcliffe. Opal also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caring staff at Good Sheppard Nursing Home in Phelps, KY for the wonderful and professional care that was given to Opal during her time there.

Friends may gather with the family on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at the Justice Community Church from 6-9 pm where a funeral service will commence at 7 pm with Rev. Clifford Rawls officiating.

A graveside service will commence on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at 1:00 pm at Highland Memory Gardens at Pecks Mill. Opal will be carried to her final resting place by her family and friends.

She is gone from our sight but never from our hearts.
