Polly Messer Baker

Polly (Mary Elizabeth) Messer Baker, 98 of Kermit departed this life on Wednesday November 13, 2019 from her residence.

Born March 23, 1921 at Kermit, WV she was the daughter of the late Moses Dee & Ida Belle Marcum.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by the father of her children: Ira Lee Messer Sr.; four sisters: Myrtle, Mae, Edna and Jenny; two brothers: Roy and Milton; three grandchildren: William Scott Wellman, Jack Messer and Mariah Messer; great grandson: Matthew Bishop.

Polly was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.  She loved sewing, cooking and making crafts.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and was of the Baptist church.

Those left to love and cherish the memory of Polly and to mourn her passing include her four children: Fern Eloise (Jack) Diamond of Thornville, Oh, Ira Lee Messer (late Rebecca) of Kermit, Irene (John) Toler of Wharncliffe, and Roy Glen (Trudy) Messer of Logan; grandchildren: Timothy Lee Staten, Valarie Teresa Ratliff, Barry James Wellman, Melissa Lee Gholson,  Debra Allen, Ira Lee Messer III, John Dee Messer, Ida Mae Brewer, Andy Toler, Alan Toler, Lance McCray and Jessica O'Sullivan; several great grandchildren and great—great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and other dear family and friends.

Friends may gather with the family on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Crum Separate Baptist Church at Crum from 11:00 – 12:00 with funeral services commencing at 12:00 pm with the Rev. Bobby Allen officiating.

Burial will follow at Fitchpatrick Cemetery at Marrowbone, WV.

Polly will be carried to her final resting place by her grandsons.

Her beautiful smile and tender heart will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
