Rodney Gale Hatfield

Rodney Gale Hatfield Sr., 68 of Coal Mountain went home to be with the lord on July 12, 2019 from St. Francis Hospital, Charleston, WV.

Born June 9, 1951 at Coal Mountain, WV, he was the son of the late Buster & Florence (Poe) Hatfield.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death a brother: Edward Hatfield.

Rodney was a retired coal miner, he loved to do woodwork, and was a deacon at Big Cub Missionary Baptist Church. He loved fishing, gardening, and was so full of life and faith.

Those left to love and cherish the memory of Rodney and to mourn his passing include his loving wife of 47 years: Doris Hatfield of Coal Mountain; his five sons: Clark (Donna) Hatfield of Rockhouse, Greg (Helen) Hatfield of Coal Mountain, David Hatfield of Coal Mountain, Eugene (Michelle) Hatfield of Salisbury, NC, Rodney (Aleisha) Hatfield of Marlington, WV; seven grandkids: Sabrina Mullens of Rockhouse, Ashley (Jonathon) Walls of Coal Mountain, D.J. (Tabbi) Hatfield of Iaeger, Justin (Candace) Hatfield of Baileysville, Michael (Jennifer) Hatfield of Coal Mountain and Chelsea and Mallorie Hatfield of Salisbury, NC; six great-grandkids: Caleb Mullens, Brantley, Jade, Marie, Grace and McKenzie Hatfield; six brothers: Buddy (Pat) Hatfield of Alabama, Glenn (Linda) Hatfield of Laurel Branch, Steve (Polly) Hatfield of Coal Mountain, Rick Hatfield of Coal Mountain, Frank Hatfield and Richard Hatfield.

Friends and family may visit at Big Cub Missionary Baptist Church at Coal Mountain on Sunday, July 14, 2019 from 6-9 pm.  Funeral services will commence on Monday, July 15, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the church with the Rev. Alvin Browning and Rev. Louie Collings officiating.

Burial will follow at the Hatfield Cemetery at Coal Mountain.  Rodney will be carried to his final resting place by his sons and grandsons.

He is gone from our sight but never from our hearts.
