Simon Fairley Browning, 77, of Gilbert, departed this life on Thursday, March 8, 2018, from Cabell Huntington Hospital.
Born March 2, 1941, at Verner, he was the son of the late Simon and Etta (Cook) Browning. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Neva Browning; 2 sisters: Anna Belcher and Kaye Riffe.
Fairley was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He enjoyed carpenter work, collecting coins and knives, and spending time with his grandchildren and his dogs.
Those left to love and cherish his memory include 3 sons: Ward (Robin) Browning of Gilbert, Dickie (Sherrie) Browning of Sarah Ann, and Nickie (Michele) Browning of Gilbert; 4 daughters: Melinda (Timmy) Blankenship of Bruno, Rhodella (Louis) Vanover of Gilbert, Machelle (Shawn) Cline of Charleston, and Amanda (James) Jessie of Baisden; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers: Alvin (Mary) Browning of North Springs, Dandridge “Buddy” (Patricia) Browning of Oceana, and Fred (Shae) Browning of North Carolina; 2 sisters: Corless (Late Delmas) Browning of Gilbert and Janella (Joe) Trent of Justice. Fairley also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends.
Friends may gather with the family on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, from 6-9 pm at the Freedom Full Gospel Assembly House of Prayer at Hampden. Funeral services will commence at the church on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at 1:00 pm with Rev. Jonas Trent, Rev. Diamond Carter, and Rev. Lowell Smith officiating.
Burial will follow in the Leatherwood Memorial Cemetery at Justice. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
He is gone from our sight but never from our hearts.
