Alfred Blankenship Obituary

Alfred Blankenship, 66 of Baisden, WV gained his wings on Thursday, March 27, 2025, in Charleston, West Virginia, surrounded by family, friends, and the amazing and caring staff at CAMC including Justin, Kayla, Ryan, and Dr. Ron.

Born May 2, 1958, at Iaeger, WV he was the son of the late Royal and Verlie (Mounts) Blankenship.

In addition to his parents, Alfred is preceded in death by his sister Wilma Blankenship, niece Keisha, father-in-law Dexter Cline, and special brothers-in-law Curtis Cline, Thomas Wade, Doyle Cline, and Kenneth Robinett.

Alfred was a coal miner for Mingo and Logan Coal and Arch Coal, working underground for over 33 years. He loved to work in the garden and to just be outside. He was a provider who cared more about doing things for his wife and children than for himself. He was the kind of man who would stop on the side of the road to help a stranded motorist, give the last dollar in his wallet to a stranger in need, and drive across multiple states with little to no sleep to transport his family to a church to sing and not complain. He always was quick with a joke but never came from a place of malice. He was a kind soul and the best husband, father, and grandfather a family could ask for. He always saw the best in everyone.

Alfred was a loyal and dedicated husband to the love of his life, Regina (Cline) Blankenship, being married for 46 years. She never stopped being his sweetheart after all those years together. Alfred was a strong and caring father to two sons Eric (Krista) Blankenship of Charleston, and Dustin Blankenship of Granville. Alfred leaves behind his wife, children, grandchildren Kaitlyn, Jacob, Joshua, and Kaylee (Bug) Blankenship, mother-in-law Nina Cline, brother Lucky (Anita) Blankenship, sisters Sarah (John) Patrick, Ginger Robinett, Pinky Cline, and Crystal Jones, special sister-in-law Patricia Wade, Ruth Ann (Bobby) Bailey, Denise Cline, brother-in-law Cleatus (Tina) Cline, canine son Jaxy, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loved ones and special family friends.

Friends may gather with the family Tuesday, April 1, 2025, from 12:00 till 1:00 pm in the chapel of Mounts Funeral Home where funeral services will commence at 1:00 pm with Pastor Dan Lawrence officiating.  Burial will follow at Justice Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Justice, WV.

Alfred will be carried to his resting place by his family and friends.

His wonderful smile, gentle heart, and his way of joking and kidding around will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved him.
