Alma Janice (Stanley) Gibson

Alma Janice (Stanley) Gibson, 92, of Baisden, WV left this life to go to her Heavenly Home on Tuesday, August 26th, 2025, at ARH in South Williamson, KY.

She was born May 5th, 1933, in Wharncliffe, WV. She was the daughter of George and Alta Bradford-Stanley.

She is preceded in death by the love of her life for 42 years, Ira Carson Gibson. Her second husband, Barney John Thomas of 9 years. Her sons Carson Gibson and Irvin Gibson. Grandsons Heath Gibson and Brian Gibson. Granddaughter Nicole Stanley, all former residents of Wharncliffe, WV. Her son-in-law Jeffery Dotson of Baisden, WV. Brothers Harrison Stanley of New York. Hollie Stanley of Michigan. Franklin Stanley and Virgil Stanley of Wharncliffe, WV. Sisters Inas Mounts and Virginia Sparks of Baisden, WV, Betty Pepki of New York.

Janice loved spending time with her family. Her hobbies were baking and sewing. She also enjoyed doing puzzles in her later years. She loved her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, and was happiest when she was able to attend church and sing His praises. She taught her children and grandchildren about Jesus and the importance of being in His presence.

Those left to cherish her wonderful memory are her daughter Judith (Jimmy) Hatfield of Baisden, son Audie (Cindy) Stanley of Gilbert, daughter-in-law Diane Gibson of Man, and daughter-in-law Sharon Gibson of Wharncliffe. Grandchildren- Jason Gibson of Man, Shenna (Ozzy) Osbourne of Wharncliffe, Miranda Cline of Wharncliffe, Brandon (Jeana) Dotson of Verner, Torri (Anthony) Morgan of Prichard, Tawana (Larry) Browning of Statesville, NC, and Amber (Jerry) Altizer of Man. Ten great grandchildren including a special great grandson, Kyler Gibson who loved escorting his Nanny out to dinner. He visited her very often with lots of hugs, kisses and gifts for his Nanny. She had two special caregivers, Kelley Ball who she called her best friend, and Linda Rose who she enjoyed coloring and talking with for hours. A very special thanks to the staff of ARH in South Williamson, KY. They loved her and treated her like their own “Granny”. She was loved and very special to all who had the joy of knowing her. She loved everyone and will be greatly missed.

Those who would like to celebrate her joyous life can join us Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 6:00 till 9:00pm in the chapel of Mounts Funeral Home in Gilbert, WV where funeral services will commence Thursday, September 4th, 2025, at 1:00pm with Rev. Joe Peck Trent and Joyce Perry officiating.   Burial will follow in the Beech Fork Cemetery at Wharncliffe, WV.

We celebrate her life and are at peace knowing she is now with her Heavenly Father in her forever home where she worked her entire life to be. She will be carried to her earthly resting place by Brandon Dotson, Jason Gibson, Anthony Morgan, Audie Stanley, Billy Jack Christian and Brett Dotson. Honorary pallbearers will be Kyler Gibson, Stony White, Herbert Gibson, Jimmy Hatfield and Larry Muncy.
