With heavy hearts, yet comforted with faith, we announce the passing of Anthony Lee “Amp” Lester who departed this life and went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 2, 2026. He passed at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lexington, KY, surrounded by his loving family, after a long courageous battle with cancer, he faced the battle showing the love of Jesus with an insurmountable measure of faith.
Anthony was born on June 26, 1964, in Mullins, WV to the late Clarence and Sue Ann (Kenneda) Lester, who he adored all his life. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death, and greeted in Heaven by his great grand baby: Izalee J’lynn; 2 sisters: Gloria Shawn Lester and Delaina Jane Sammons; grandparents: Brian and Brookie (Howard) Kenneda, Webb Dee and Flossie Lester; mother and father-in-law: Levi and Betty Jo Blankenship; sister-in-law: Lisa “Peck” Blankenship; brothers-in-law: Rev. Anthony was a faithful believer in Jesus Christ for 44 years. He believed strongly in the power of prayer and trusted the Lord through it all. Near the end, he leaned on the scripture Psalm 23 V 4-6.
Anthony was devoted to his family, especially his wife, daughter, and grandchildren. He took pride in loving, providing, and protecting them with grit and perseverance, without hesitation. Working hard all his life, he had worked most of it at T & K Trucking, also, he had spent the last 11 years working on the strip for Coal Mountain Energy where he made friends with his coworkers that he thought highly of. Anthony was always willing to go the extra mile for anyone in need, he enjoyed the simple things in life, whether it was sitting on the porch talking to someone passing by, taking an evening ride with his loving wife, or making a joke to share a smile.
Those left to love and cherish his memory are his loving wife of 44 years: Pamela (Blankenship) Lester; daughter: Savanna Lynn (Brandon) Cunningham; his wonderful grandchildren: Nataya and Makaya Bare, Izzy and Kayden Cunningham; siblings: Dougie (Misty) Lester, Tabatha Lester (Mark Cline) Lawrence Sammons, all of Hanover, WV, Anetta (Lloyd) Cline, Leonard Blankenship, Greta (Bernie) Harper, all of Simon, WV, Chris Blankenship of Baileysville, WV, Treasa Bradford of Sprattsville, WV, Lisa (Benny) Mullins of Brenton, WV. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins that he helped love and nurture, and who viewed him as a hero.
